Stay on Target!
Topic: Sci-Fi

My buddy Rodger and I got together today to visit the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History's "STAR WARS: Where Science Meets Imagination Exhibit."

We lunched at  Railhead Smokehouse just down the street from the museum and our conversation quickly turned to our various ailments.  As we each shared our laundry list of health concerns, it practically became a contest.

"Well, I'm flat-footed."

"I'm flat-footed!"

"Well, I wear $500 orthotics!"

"Oh yeah?  I take eight prescriptions a day.  Eight!"

"I take two injections!"

Curious that Rodger never mentioned his behavioral health issues.

Anyone overhearing our conversation would have thought the two of us will be requiring hospice soon.

It's been more than thirty years since the first Star Wars film hit screens back in 1977.  Rodger and I were just boys, then.  No mortgages, no bills.    We didn't know we were flat footed, then.

Who'd have thought that this one movie would roll into six?  That it would inspire so many to achieve so much?  That it would still be such a large part of the lives of so many?

Who knew we'd have grown into such whiney bastards?
