Dr. Horrible is Dr. Awesome!
Now Playing: Unwritten Law's "Superman"
Topic: Music

Act II of Dr. Horrible's Sing-A-Long Blog posted today and, man, it is teh awesome!

I have really enjoyed Neil Patrick Harris on How I Met Your Mother.  He is just hysterical as Barney.  As much as you may marvel at the very different character he plays there from his days as a child actor, just wait til you see your Dr. Doogie transformed to Dr. Horrible. His performance here is so endearing, so genuine.  Truly, a fine performance.

Favorite exchange from this segment:

Dr. Horrible: "I want to be an achiever... Like Bad Horse."

Penny: "The Thoroughbred of Sin?!?"

Dr. Horrible: "I meant Gandhi."

Anybody else notice that Penny's dressed as Snow White?

The songs in this act are instantly memorable.  Particularly Act II's finale "It's a Brand New Day (And You're Gonna Die)."  No, really.  It rocks the hizzouse!

My Very Own Top Ten in My iTunes
Topic: Music

One of the things that I really like about iTunes is how it keeps track of how often you listen to a given song.  I think it's interesting to look at how often I've listened to a piece of music.

Right now, these are the all-time top 5 MP3s in my music library:

5. Bare Naked Ladies' It's All Been Done (BNL is teh shizzle)

4. Moxy Früvous' Splatter Splatter (a song about teenage slasher movies, and a favorite song of Suzanne's, too)

3. The City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra's Dune (the original movie theme... just wondermous, sometimes you have to get your Lynch on)

2. Outkast's Hey Ya! (I think this might be a guilty pleasure)

1. Nine Inch Nails Just Like You Imagined (this piece is so freakin' evocative... just loves it)

An interesting list, I think.   Of course, that's how my library shapes up over the 14 months I've been using iTunes.  My current playlist tells a different story:

5. They Might Be Giants' Bastard Wants to Hit Me (song cracks me the eff up)

4. Stan Ridgeway's Wild Bill Donovan (there just aren't enough songs about the CIA)

3. Glen Campbell's Bull Durham (from Campbells 12-string guitar album - awesome!)

2. Stan Ridgeway's Afghan Forklift (Okay, I like some politics in my music)

1. Johnny Cash's Sea of Heartbreak (the pairing of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers with Johnny Cash is perfect!)

Definitely a more folk-rock feel I've got going right now...

What's making regular appearances in your rotation?
